True Detective Season 2: Episode 1 Review
If you don't know about the show True Detective here's the HBO web synopsis:
"A bizarre murder brings together three law-enforcement officers and a career criminal, each of whom must navigate a web of conspiracy and betrayal in the scorched landscapes of California"
In the name of full disclosure I have to say that the first season of True Detective was one of my favorite shows of 2014.
The writing was top level, the acting was great and the character development was superb. I can't use any more descriptive words...my vocabulary is pretty small.
So the word EXCITEMENT really doesn't describe how excited I really was for the season premier this past Sunday.
The fictional city of Vinci is the backdrop. It's an industrial complex of a city nestled in the sprawl of Los Angeles.
Corruption, Drugs, Bad Cops, Ton's of money = Great show? Maybe.
I wasn't very impressed by the all star cast HBO put together for this season.
You would think big names like Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams would explode on the screen with excellence, but the presentation was a bit weak.
Trust me, I understand that the first few episodes need to set up a plot...motive...hatred, but there wasn't a scene that would hook a new watcher.
Especially one that didn't see the amazing first season of the show.
Now...OF COURSE I'm going to watch the whole season...I have to...I just have to. Game Of Thrones just ended and I'm feeling pretty lonely.
All I can do is wait to be hooked in the next episode.
I'll have to give this premiere a 5.0
Next episode...BRING IT!
