Mad Max: Fury Road Blu-Ray Is A Furious Fixation

One Word Review: Breathtaking

Nothing was more fresh and breathtaking than Mad Max Fury Road! No doubt one of the best moviesof the year (after Star Wars), is finally released now on blu-ray!

With a MPEG-4 AVC encode, this disc showcases the amazing color schemes of the movie, boasting clarity, detail, grit, grime and colors galore! I didn't notice any picture anomalies that would distractfrom the movie or even the most hardened videophile. It's perfect.

Sadly, the rumored black & white version is not included on this release but you can always turn thecolor setting on your TV down to hold you over until the official corrected version is available. Knowing WB's history with blu-rays, they are going to quadruple dip this one and I'll probably end up buying it again and again and again. Maybe they'll add a commentary to one of the releases?

MM: Fury Road also crashes into your home theater with every bit of gasoline-spitting, exploding WarBoy noise that it did in the theater. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill DTS track, this is Dolby Atmos, baby! Your neighbors are going to hate you if you have a sound system because this movie sounds amazing! With that being said, this disc is demo worthy!

By now, you should have seen this flick and if you haven't, you need to literally go out and buy this blu-ray right now. Seriously, right now.

There are regular 2D, 3D and Best Buy limited Steelbook editions available. I did not yet see the movie in 3D on blu-ray but I experienced it in the theater and while it was well done, it didn't really boost my enjoyment of the movie that much, granted, it was still an experience to see it on a big screen. Maybe I was simply in awe of this movie to even notice.

The US/UK versions of Fury Road are packed with a bunch of features like:

– Maximum Fury: Filming Fury Road

– Mad Max: Fury on F our Wheels

– The Road Warriors: Max and Furiosa

– The Tools of the Wasteland

– The Five Wives: So Shiny, So Chrome

– Fury Road: Crash & Smash

– Deleted Scenes

While the US got a Mad Max anthology blu-ray set, the UK got this Limited Edition with a sweet Interceptor piece:

Now, don't forget that you can import this UK Limited Edition as it should also be Region A compatible, however the down-side is that it doesn't come out until October 5th.

With exceptional image and sound quality, not to mention a decent selection of extras, I can't recommend this blu-ray enough even though there's no doubt that more releases with more content areon the horizon.

What a lovely day indeed!
