How Nerdbot Survived The Zombie Apocalypse Experience

September 4, 2015

A few of the Nerdbot crew took a little vacation to Las Vegas this past weekend and had an amazing experience! We have all been to Las Vegas a dozen times and we wanted a new experience. We all took a look thru Groupon and what we found was a gem of an opportunity. Here is the description they have on Groupon:

“There’s not much time for you to stop the impending apocalypse—and it’s not going to be easy. Hoards of zombies stand in the way of mankind’s future, but there is one glimmer of hope. It comes from the barrel of a .50-caliber paintball shotgun. With that weapon in hand, participants in Zombie Apocalypse Experience Las Vegas fire their way through four zombie-filled zones, which stretch across different safe houses and a total of 780 feet. Before sending out each Zombie Assault Team, the event’s organizers go over the rules, hand out equipment, and cover the basics of paintball-gun operation. Luckily, the zombies don’t have guns, so participants need not worry about getting shot with paintballs.”

Our reaction to the description was a unanimous “FUCK YES!” We were all fans of The Walking Dead and knew that we just had to live out our inner most desires to pretend to be Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Carol Peletier, or anyone else on the show(except Father Gabriel because he sucks).  We bought into the deal and were super excited to go.

When we got to the parking lot of the Combatzone paintball field we were welcomed by the distant screams from other participants of the Zombie Apocalypse Experience. That’s when the adrenaline started pumping. We checked into the shop and signed a waiver to get in.  Another group of people joined our party and then it was time to prove our mettle.

We went inside the park where we were greeted by the Butcher who instructed us on safety procedures so that nobody ends up like the Governor. It was nice of them to let us know that even during a zombie apocalypse that safety is the number one priority.

We were given a short introduction to the course by Sergeant Doom and then we finally got our hands on the paintball guns. Their design was reminiscent of a pump action shotgun, which is exactly the kind of gun you would want in a zombie apocalypse!

I don’t want to spoil the entire thing so here is a quick list of highlights of the Zombie Apocalypse Experience:

I highly suggest that the next time any of you go to Las Vegas to go check out the Zombie Apocalypse Experience.  Nerdbot rating a 9/10
