Kong: Skull Island goes into production next week and Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. is ramping up plans for a proper franchise!
Kong: Skull Island will hit theaters March 10, 2017 while Godzilla 2 will be released June 8, 2018 with both films setting up the monster brawl in 2020.
Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, and John Goodman to name a few while Godzilla 2 is still in development as director Gareth Edwards is focusing on Star Wars: Rogue One right now. Hopefully, Godzilla 2 will focus more on the titular monster and we will witness more of the monster’s destruction and not throw-away plots about characters we don’t care about. After seeing many who seemed to agree with my own criticisms, it’s hopeful that Gareth Edwards was listening and will make a better monster movie and I have faith that he will.
Still, we are less than two years away from another King Kong movie and four years (and some change) from finally seeing these two titans brawl it out!
