With everything that is going on in the world, don’t you wish you could take matters into your own hands, fix the every single problem related to murderers and corrupted world leaders, and then help create the perfect Utopic society?
That is exactly what Light envisioned when he got a hold of the Death Note. You still don’t know what I am talking about? You mean, at this time in moment and space, you still haven’t gotten a chance to sit down for a whole weekend and binge on the greatest anime ever...DEATH NOTE!
Man, I feel bad for you. Where have you been? Do you even have a life?
Anyways, in case you haven’t seen Death Note, I will give you the scope of what it’s about. Death Note is a psychological thriller kind of anime. It is about this super smart, top of his class and country high school student Light Yagami, who comes into the possession of a super natural notebook called the Death Note. The notebook was planted on earth by a Shinigami or a God of Death called Ryuk, who became bored of the underworld and decided to have some fun by analyzing how humans would use the notebook.
Light, who after reading the death note’s rules, was still in disbelief, decided to try it out by killing a criminal that took some hostages in a bank or something like that. After realizing that it actually worked and seeing his father fighting crime his whole life, Light made it his mission to kill every criminal on earth to create the perfect world and utopic society.
The story becomes even more interesting once they introduce L, who is also a super smart detective that can keep up with Light’s super manipulative cleverness. They need L in order to catch this criminal that is killing all these other criminals. Which, even though they committed a crime, they still have rights.
I can only say so much here without spoiling it for those that still have not seen this anime.
There are so many different layers of the story. Like, who is smarter than whom…like in a game of chess. L and Light both are always ahead of each other and of everyone else involved.
There is also a rumor going around that Hollywood has casted people for the live action version of the movie. The fact that even Hollywood was to make a live version of this anime, should be an indication that this anime should be one your all time favorite!
There is already a Japanese version of the live film and it is very very epic. They even have the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the soundtrack. Totally recommend you see it after the anime.
