Batman Returns... In LEGO!

April 3, 2016

Lego Movie Fans were delighted to find out last year that not only would Lego's next focus be on making a sequel to its monumentally successful "Lego Movie," but it was also spinning off a flick for one of the films hit stars, Batman, voiced by Will Arnett. The official trailer was finally released, starting with a monologue from the caped crusader himself and then giving us a brief tour of the brick-built BatCave the only way Batman can: By Looking.. Really.. Cool!!!!

Aside from the impeccable design scheme, you are also introduced to Batman's automated assistant he affectionately calls “Computer” and proceeds to undress after a hard day of fighting crime. Alfred, our beloved butler, is only referred to in the trailer as it appears Lego is keeping the rest of cast close to its vest for now aside from a quick screen flash of Justice League friends: Wonder Woman, Superman, and Green Arrow.

It also appears the voice cast of this plastic endeavor is nothing short of impressive, as Zach Galifianakis takes role of the lead baddy The Joker! It also looks like Rosario Dawson is on board to give her lovely voice to Batgirl / Barbara Gordon. You will also be treated to Micheal Cera as Robin, and pop singer Mariah Carey as Mayor Marion Grange.

Overall, it feels as if the first Lego Movie's charm and creative approach to stop motion animation is alive and well in Batman's latest iteration. As a Lego Fan myself, I’m eager to see some new sets to possibly welcome to my collection. You can look forward to those as well the movie itself which is currently slated for February 2nd, 2017.
