Last Suicide Squad Trailer: What We Learned
After watching the new Suicide Squad trailer about a million times,I’ve learned that:
1) this movie is going to be a thrill from start to finish and 2) DC is trying to build their movie universe as fast as they possibly can.
Now, this isn’t a bad thing but they have to make sure they play their cards right to pull this off.
For starters, it’s easy to tell that DC is pulling out the big guns right away with the cast I like to refer as the “The Big Three.” They have Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, and Will Smith as Deadshot. Any one of those names alone is enough to get people to see a movie.
The trailer gets started with that iconic Joker laugh that we all love. It shows a whole different side of DC where the Suicide Squad is founded by the government with the intentions of letting them die. It does a great job at introducing everyone's powers and talents in the first thirty seconds.
The two songs in the trailer adds an edgy, dark-humored appeal and you could tell that a lot of time and effort was put into the making of this film-- from the makeup, to the props, clothing, and choreographed fighting scenes. As soon as they introduce the Joker, played by Jared Leto, it gives you that vibe that maybe he’s working against them, and is the wild card—a role perfect for the Joker.
From the looks of it, we might be getting a little bit more of Batman in this movie than we first thought. Ben Affleck’s role in Batman V Superman was breathtaking and left me wanting to see more.
Just to make things even better, if all the action wasn’t enough for you, it seems that there will be some humor in the movie, too. So I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to watch Suicide Squad.
Batman V Superman was one big setup movie to kick start the Justice League. But after seeing low ratings, DC needs to make sure that they play their cards right and can’t rush anymore movies.Suicide Squad, however, pulls the focus away from future DC movies and puts focus on loveable, violent characters. It’s a great way to introduce all of these villains all in one film without it being too overwhelming.
With all that being said, DC has a great future ahead of them. They have the star power alone to get people to show up to their films. Also having a five year plan with all the upcoming movies that they have lined up for certainly builds hype. I’m super excited to see what DC holds in the future, I just hope that they don’t cram anything else together for their upcoming films. But I do believe that they started off in the right direction and I can’t wait to see what else they do.
