Power Rangers 2017! Suits and Cast Revealed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after almost 20 years it’s time to morph back into action with the Power Rangers. Countless fan films have been released online since the original, official Power Rangers in 1993. Saban Entertainment, the studio behind the Power Rangers, has finally realized that fans want more than just a Saturday morning show, and decided to release a feature length film. But will they be able to recapture the magic?
Fans aren’t too sure just yet. What it will take to recapture the magic of the original power rangers may not lie in the acting ability of the newest cast but the story of our heroes. The 1993 release of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was so great because nothing like it had ever been done before. It was full of surprises, plot twists, and of course stuff blowing up. But over the past 20 years, Power Rangers has become like everything else and its once great ratings suffered. Now don’t let this discourage you. Saban, in partnership with Lionsgate, promises something great. We don’t have too many details yet, but there is still room for excitement and speculation. The studio is set to have a major appearance at San Diego Comic Con 2016 and will release more information on this upcoming film.
Here’s what we DO know:
The cast will consist of a few new actors you may not have heard of, which is not necessarily a bad thing. This means these new young actors will be able to be molded into what Saban and Lionsgate want for this film.
The confirmed cast comprises of Elizabeth Banks as the evil Rita Repulsa, Naomi Scott as Kimberly, Becki G. as Trini, Rj Cyler as Billy, Dacre Montgomery as Jason and Ludi Lin as Zack.
We are returning to Angel Grove, but there has been no talk of Zordon, from the official synopsis released. It says five teenagers who are chosen by destiny will have to learn to deal with their everyday lives while also being a team of protectors.
The new suit design for the Rangers are meant to look alien rather than man-made. Production designer, Andrew Menzies, states, "Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans.”
Little details have been released around this reboot of the Power Rangers but we hope this will get you excited and informed on what to expect from their return.
