Disney/Pixar’s Brave director Brenda Chapman is set to make her directorial debut with an odd yet not that unusual concept titled, “Come Away,” a live action prequel to both Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.
The so-crazy-it-just-might-work fantasy drama is said to take place at a time where Peter and Alice are brother and sister, coping with the death of their eldest brother and parents’ grief which leads them to their separate, classic adventures. Centering around the theme of forced imagination, the title seems a bit on the dark and psychological side, we don't immediately see in Disney movies.
Disney’s live action Alice in Wonderland surely boasts impressive visuals, while combined with Chapman’s animation background, “Come Away” may end up being the best looking movie of the year. Whenever that is. Not much else is known about the project. In fact, we’re not entirely sure Disney has any part of it, having announced they were making a live action Peter Pan just last month (not to be confused with “Pan”). But we will keep a close eye on it.
