10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Didn't Happen

May 19, 2016

In the world of professional wrestling, dream matches are inevitable. Fans and wrestlers alike can speculate and argue about matches and feuds that should or could happen. Here's a list of great matches that have yet to be seen, though it seems unlikely. But let's keep dreaming...

1. The Rock vs Shawn Michaels:

I'm starting out big! Two of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Since both are great on the mic, the verbal spats would be epic. Not to mention both men are fantastic in the ring...

So why didn't it happen?

Simply the two men legitimately don't like each other. This could stem from the fact that the Michaels was trying to stop an up and coming Rock push. It's on record that The Rock said he never wanted to work with him.

2. Sting vs The Undertaker:

A dream of all the internet wrestling community. While the Monday night wars blazed on in the 90s. The one dream match that always came up: The Phenom the Deadman The Undertaker vs The Icon, the man they call Sting.

So why didn't it happen?
Mainly, this is Sting's fault for not wanting to sign with WWE for years. Now both Taker and Sting are south of 50 and Sting retired this year.

3. CM Punk vs Chris Benoit:

Sunday, June 24, 2007 WWE Night of Champions was going to be the event to see CM Punk vs Chris Benoit for the vacant ECW. Who won? Johnny Nitro? Huh. What happened?

So why didn't it happen?

The saddest story in wrestling history. Chris Benoit killed his family and then himself. Such a tragedy. And you can't even simulate that match on any video game because WWE deleted Benoit from history.

4. Cesaro vs Kurt Angle:

Simply, I think this would be a great match.

So why didn't it happen?

Rumors say Kurt has some issue with Triple H, whom is running things now. Get it together Kurt!

5. CM Punk vs Stone Cold Steve Austin:

Two guys that have reckless attitudes and sharp tongues. One guy loves beer, the other is straight-edge. That could equate to a very entertaining situation.

So why didn't it happen?

When The Rock vs Cena was happening fans started throwing this idea out there, even Austin give it some thought. But it stayed just that. A thought. Austin said he's done and he means it. CM Punk is preparing to get beat up in UFC, so this match doesn't look like it's happening anytime soon.

6. Bret Hart vs Daniel Bryan:

"The best there was, the best there is, the best there ever will" vs "The best wrestler in the world" that would've put all the butts in all the seats!

So why didn't it happen?

Sadly both these guys careers were cut drastically short due to injury. This will never happen

7. Dean Ambrose vs Mick Foley:

Before coming to the WWE, Ambrose was known as Jon Moxley, a hardcore lunatic in CZW. Mick Foley is no stranger to these matches, that's why he's known as the hardcore legend. Both men are gluttons for pain and punishment. This would indeed be a classic.

So why didn't it happen?

I don't think Foley will be stepping into ring anytime soon.

8. Hulk Hogan vs John Cena:

Babyface of the Past vs Face that Runs the Place. Both of these guys were/are the poster boy for better respective eras, and perennial main-eventers. Being that both men made Vince millions of dollars.

So why didn't it happen?

Hogan is old and actually banned from the company for some comments he made.

9. Edge and Christian vs The New Day:

Edge and Christian were known for their out of the Rings shenanigans back in the early 2000s and The New Day took it to another level. Now these teams have interacted a bit like kazoos vs the trombone battle, but everyone would love to see a nice feud between these two teams.

So why didn't it happen?

Edge and Christian both had to retire due to injuries

10. Beth Phoenix vs all of the 4 Horsewomen:
Beth Phoenix was in the era of the "Divas." She was a beautiful woman, but she was a wrestler first and that's just what the Diva's revolution needed. Phoenix vs Charlotte, Phoenix vs Bayley, Phoenix vs Becky Lynch, or Phoenix vs Sasha Banks would've been great and a definite boost to the popularity of the Divas Revolution.

So why didn't it happen?

Beth Phoenix has retired and became with Mom she's pretty much done with wrestling.

Tell us, which one of these would you have loved to see?
