Gaming Magazine Founder Dies at 76

August 1, 2016

Joyce Katz, one of the founders of Electronic Games magazine, passed away at 76. During her long career of fanzines and fan conventions, she and her husband Arnie Katz, as well as writer Bill Kunkel (passed away in 2011), founded Electronic Games in the early 80s.

Before the common use of the internet, gaming magazines provided descriptions of upcoming titles as well as reviews. Electronic Game was one of the firsts, if not the first, and with Katz's efforts, gaming magazines were regularly on the shelves of most retailers.

Electronic Games ran from 1981 to 1997. Katz' is survived by her husband.
