Earlier this week it was announce that TNT along with M. Night Shyamalan will be bringing Tales From The Crypt back to life. Like many Shyamalan’s movies there will be a twist to this reboot of a show that gave me the creeps as a child. According to Bloody Disgusting the Crypt Keeper won’t be the one welcoming us to every episode. “Instead, the new show will be highlighted by an old man with a cane, wearing a hood, and keeping warm by a fireplace. This is more in tune with the original EC comic.” The original voice of the Crypt Keeper tweeted out. "I'll go on record, Crypt Keeper as we know him is more popular than ever & it'd be a sham/shame not to have him host the show!!!!!"
That doesn’t sound like someone who is too thrilled with the idea of a show without the original host. For me the Crypt Keeper is what made the show complete along with the stories and directors that loan their talents for the episodes. Of course the show is getting rebooted by TNT and not HBO. Another tie up is the rights of the Crypt Keeper being owned by HBO and not TNT. The devil is in the details kiddies, but wait there’s more from the report. “The original plan, whether it’s changed or not, was to film it “American Horror Story”-style, and have 13 episodes of one storyline per season.”
If the rumors are to be believed than the show we once knew, loved, and/or feared has come to an end. The main question to ask is why not label it a M. Night Shyamalan horror show instead giving it the Tales From The Crypt tag? If it is not in the same frame as the old series (which gave directors and actors a chance to experiment with their skills), than what will it be. I’m hoping that it’s an anthology series like the one that it once was, if not then don’t label it Tales From The Crypt if it is a serialized show. If the rumors are true then we may see a tale of voodoo set in New Orleans instead of tales showcasing a directors and writers skill in horror. That’s all for now kiddies and I will keep you updated with the latest info on this story. Hehehehehehehe
