6 Comic Book Stories We Want As Movies

Comic book movies are what everybody looks forward to nowadays, and there are no signs of them stopping anytime soon. So why not add more to the list of upcoming movies? Here is are 6 comic book story arcs that need to be movies whether it be live action or animated.

#1 Spider-Man Back In Black Animated

Spider-Man Back In Black is an amazing story line that takes place after the events of Marvel's Civil War. After Peter Parker unmasked himself, he knew he might get in some trouble. While he's out with Aunt May and Mary Jane, May is suddenly shot and fatally wounded. Before he goes to find out who is behind the shootings, he decides there is only one thing he has to do, put on the suit to show he's done playing games. Sometimes without the mask because he doesn't care anymore. He wants people to know he's coming for them. This film would be better off animated because:

  1. Marvel's continuity isn't lined up to do it correctly. Captain America: Civil War was great but it didn't quite hold up to the comic book iteration. There weren't as many twist or huge surprises, including the Peter Parker's unmasking, so it just can't be done.

  2. It’s too graphic for the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Truthfully, is if Marvel owned the X-MEN, Deadpool would never have been made. The only correct way to make Back In Black to for it to be rated R, and that's just not possible for the current MCU.

#2 Gen 13 Live Action

There is already a Gen 13 animated movie and it's awesome. Flea, the bass player from Red Hot Chili Peppers voices one of the main characters, Grunge, so trust me when I saw it's awesome, but there are ways to make it better. The comics focus on a group of teens that are invited to take part in a project, but it is actuality a government facility experimenting on them. The teens eventually escape, but not before they manifest superhuman powers. They then use their powers to form the team Gen 13. Now the problems with the animated movie are that they left out two key characters Burnout and Sarah Rainmaker. Gen 13 was owned by Image Comics but is now under the control of DC Comics, and like up coming Booster Gold movie it doesn't have to be a part of the DCEU (DC Extended Universe) at all. I actually think it would be better if it didn't connect to any other movies. A cast of characters like Caitlin Fairchild, Freefall, Sarah Rainmaker, Burnout and Grunge might be just what the DC movies need.

#3 Night Of The Living Deadpool Live Action

I admit that I am not a fan of comic book Deadpool (The Deadpool movie is a different story). But Night of the Living Deadpool ia a great way to make people like me like Deadpool. Add zombies. In Night of the Living Deadpool, he wakes up in a diner from a food coma due after an all-you-can-eat chimichangas trip, only to find out that he slept through the zombie apocalypse. Later he finds out that he is the only hero left on earth and is looking for humanity. The best part about Deadpool is that filmmakers could do whatever with him. It doesn't have to make sense, and that's why a live action with Ryan Reynolds film would be great because he doesn't care what people think. Also like the comics, the movie could be black and white with the only color coming from Deadpool's costume as an artistic touch.

#4 The Superior Spider-Man Animated

Superior Spider-Man is in my opinion the greatest Spider-Man story since Spider-Man Back In Black. It was something new and different for the character. Otto Octavius (Dr. Octopus) had swapped minds with Peter Parker and let Peter die in his body. The best thing about it was we got sort of an Antihero Spider-Man. He didn't kill but he also didn't follow the regular rules that Spider-man did. A great aspect to this could-be movie would be the Peter Parker memories. While Octavius is in Parkers body he's haunted by all the memories and spirit of Peter Parker. The memories convinces Octavius!Spider-Man that he needs to be a hero, so he becomes a much stronger Spider-Man and Peter Parker. Due the the current MCU line-up, it's likely that this would be better suited to an animated movie. But who knows what Marvel has up their sleeve.

#5 Saga Live Action

Saga is a huge space opera and debatably the best ongoing comic book since 2012. It follows Alana and Marko, two different alien races that met and fell in love. There is a galactic war as they are being chased from both sides while trying to raise their daughter, Hazel who narrates the series as an adult. It tackles issues like drug addiction and child abduction, which is a little different from typical alien sci-fi movies. Saga is so popular that it's even shown up in other comic books. It's inevitable that it will be a movie one day, and I personally think it would be badass to see a live action Price Robot IV.

#6 Batman A Death In The Family Animated

Even though Batman: A Death in the Family is a Batman title, I feel like it's more of a Robin story, and I feel that's what we need. It tells the story of Jason Todd (my personal favorite Robin) on the search for his birth mother. He took some time off from being Robin to cool down a little bit but as soon as he finds out clues of his birth mother, he decides to use his detective skills to try and find her. At the same time Batman is hunting down The Joker, so they decide to work together to get what they each want. Jason Todd is a great character and he can carry his own movie and this one would be amazing because it's the start of him becoming (SPOILER ALERT) The Red Hood. The scene where The Joker finally gets his hands on Jason Todd would be sad, gritty, dark and gruesome which is everything we deserve and expect from an animated Batman movie. It would also mean the return of Mark Hamill as The Joker and Kevin Conroy as Batman everyone's favourite duo. Now Batman a death in the family has been rumored by Mark Hamill himself to be on the list of DC animated films but because it's just a rumor and not confirmed yet is why it's on this list.

Are there any comic books that I left out that you think should be on this list to be made in the movie? Let us know in the comments below.
