20th century fox released a new trailer for the upcoming Assassin's Creed movie. The trailer is set to a dark, gritty tone. Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is in his cell talking to a priest regarding his birthday.
Set to music that just gets you excited, accompanied with beautiful shoots of the set, the trailer really kicks off when antagonist company Abstergo kidnaps Callum and explains why they chose him.
It shows a few scenes that we've already seen in past trailers, but incorporates new scenes in a fresh way. The trailer also hints others with an assassin bloodline by showing other prisoners that were taken by Abstergo.
Based on the trailer, we know that the reason why Abstergo has kidnapped Callum is for the knowledge his ancestor holds during the time of the Spanish inquisition. Near the end of the trailer, it shows the kidnapped prisoners escaping from their stronghold with their newly found skills and the Animus machine that allows them to relive their ancestors memories. For fans of the games, we know that this means an even bigger plot than the trailer reveals.
The trailer is extremely well-paced, showing off all the amazing stunts, and the fight scenes look beautifully choreographed. But maybe the most important thing to say is that it ends with our assassins performing the iconic Leap of Faith that we all love to do in the video games. And it just looks breathtaking.
The movie does look like it's going to stay true to the game and it's getting me really excited.
The movie is due to be released December 21, 2016.
