LA Comic Con Big Events: Name Changes, Stan Lee Day, Club Comic Con, Stan Lee Autograph Auction

What was once called Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo has undergone a name change and is now called Stan Lee's LA Comic Con. The change was reported to offer the city of Los Angeles it's own "Comic Con" in addition to clearly defining the convention's intention. "Comikaze" is a nonsense word for those unfamiliar and the name change provides clarity.

Additionally, in honor of the contributions he has made for the city of Los Angeles, Council member Curren D. Price has designated October 28th "Stan Lee Day." The convention also is usually held around the 28th of October, as it falls on Halloween Weekend.

The first ever Club Comic Con will also be held the night of October 28th at The Globe in Los Angeles. The nightclub event will feature DJ sets from Dante Basco, DJ Eye, Chuck None, Quickpheet, BluRay, and VJ The Dave. Between DJ sets will be performances by television and cosplay stars including D-Piddy. A nerdy event like this of course will offer a cosplay contest, but the event emphasizes wearing what you'd like whether it be cosplay, fandom-bounds, or club attire. Tickets are $20, $30 VIP for those ages 21+.

On Sunday, October 30th on the main stage, LACC will be auctioning off a Gibson Flying V signed by the man himself, Stan Lee. Courtesy of both LACC and Guitar Center, the auction's proceeds will go to the Boyle Heights Arts Conservatory, a center in LA that teaches the comic arts to youths for free.
