Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 is an amazing but only if you're a fan of the franchise. The game feels like a rehash of its predecessor and it's kind of upsetting. When I first heard the news of a sequel to this game I was very excited about it, not only because the first one was great but because I'm a huge fan of the show.
XenoVerse 2 does an okay job at keeping you engaged by throwing a plot twist here and there but ultimately falls short of coming up with another original idea. If you didn't play the first one you would more than likely enjoy this one for both the gameplay and the storyline.
At least the controls moving from the first game to the second felt identical, so I'm not entirely lost when I played it. The game addd a few new factors with choosing a faction and how it affects your game and establishes an Ultimate to each race, not just the beloved Saiyan race.
The few new story points it does add includes how Trunks feels to seeing his best friend Gohan die and how he would have made a change. Giving such a loved character more development like that was beautiful and makes you understand him a bit more.
Character stats are brought over if you have a save file for the first game, and you are also able to see your character from the original game. Trunks fighting side by side with your character is really awesome to witness.
With the new time rifts they added-- which is a 6 player co-op mode that allows you to fight challenging bosses-- is a great way to play with friends. Even in the PvP mode, they added a balancing system you could enable that makes all the characters stats virtually the same.
The game is a fun game to play, don't get me wrong, but if you don't pick this game up you won't really be missing all that much. I'd only recommend this game to people who are fans of the Dragon Ball franchise and for that I give this game a 7.5/10.
