Resident Evil 7: Review
The latest installment to Resident Evil is a horrific masterpiece. This is one of the few horror games that kept me at the edge of my seat in a long time. They really kept true to the original RE roots by staying as a survival horror game, but at the same time adding the new first person aspect. This is the cherry on top of it, as it really immerses you in the game.
It constantly forces you to look over your shoulder and make sure you're safe even if you already cleared the room because they make sure to keep you scared with sound effects. such as wind hitting the doors, and knocking over cans. All the little stuff they add in the game gives it all the more suspense.
One of my favorite nostalgic parts of the game was organizing everything in your backpack just like in the old RE. This forces you to be neat and choose what you deem is important. The story was amazing, leaving you with little to know at the start. All you know is that there's these crazy rednecks and you have to kill them before they kill you. Unraveling the mystery of what has happened to these people was beautiful. With all plot twist that this game throws at you I'm still wondering about the ending, trying to connect all the pieces.
If you love horror games then this is for you. I can guarantee you'll love it. I can't wait to go back and replay this game again, and if you know Resident Evil then you know they also like to keep franchises going, so fingers crossed for a RE8 with the same tone as this one.
