A few days ago during the Netflix Press Release, Castlevania was revealed as being in the line up for a 2017 debut. With nothing more to go on than just “Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 coming to Netflix in 2017”, not much is known about the series other than it being written by Warren Ellis (Moon Knight, Nextwave, The Authority and Transmopolitan) and produced by Adi Shankar (The Grey, 2012’s Dredd and the infamous gritty love letter to Power Rangers which debuted on YouTube in 2015).

So yea, you can right off the bat what kind of treatment Castlevania will be getting.

In an interview with io9, Adi Shankar gave a few more details about the show and his

commitment to telling a good story first and foremost. We know that the story will be an adaptation to Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse and will be done “in the vein of Game of Thrones” and that it will be “R-rated as Fuck”.

For those may not know the overarching story of Castlevania, it tells the stories of the vampire hunting Belmont clan spanning generations and their fight against Dracula. Dracula’s Curse follows the story of Trevor Belmont, Sorceress Sypha Belnades, Pirate Grant Dynasty, and Alucard, set in 1400’s Europe as they battle against Dracula’s Army.

Adi has also stated that season 2 will be coming 2018.
