The end is almost here and millions of viewers eagerly await the next, and second to last, season of HBO's television phenomenon Game of Thrones.
Even though we have very minimal information on the new season, the people at HBO released two very short production teasers. Honestly there isn't much to these and they are a long way from being considered a bona fide teaser, but if you are a hardcore fan they serve as the first sign that the show's next season isn't too far away.
Both teasers start out with the banner HBO In Production Now and end with another banner reading Game Of Thrones Season 7 across the center of the screen. In the first one we get a single shot of Oathkeeper, a sword that was given to Brienne of Tarth in season four by Jamie Lannister. The sword was forged from the Valyrian steel of Ned Stark's sword Ice.
One thing worth noting is that the hand in the video has freckles on it and actress Gwendoline Christie has a freckle-less appearance. Does the hand belong to Tormund Giantsbane? He is a large red-headed fellow capable of wielding a sword of that caliber and also a potential suitor for Ms. Brienne. We will have to wait find out...
The second is a single shot of Cersei Lannister, played by actress Lena Headley sitting on what may be the Iron Throne, having make up applied by a member of the crew. As we know from last year, after (SPOILERS!) a massive explosion that destroyed pretty much all of her main enemies in King's Landing and resulting in King Tommen's suicide, Cersei finally gets crowned Queen of Westros. I am sure her reign will be nothing shy of eventful.
The estimated premiere date is sometime during the summer of 2017 but nothing specifically has been confirmed. Until then we will have to turn to the internet for the latest rumors and fan theories, but season seven of Game of Thrones is almost here.
What do you think will happen in season seven? Are you excited or worried about the direction the show is going? Let us know in the comments!
