10 Upcoming Remakes and Sequels We Are Loving/Dreading

May 19, 2017

This has been the year of remakes, and there are only more to come. Obviously the movie industry is running out of original ideas and loves destroying our favorite cult classics. I know we are all getting tired of it, but we are all going to go see them in hopes they can keep them alive.

Are you ready?

The Crow

Corin Hardy, The Hallow, is lined up to direct this movie. It is unknown if it will be a sequel or remake but the time is rumored to be The Crow Reborn. There is no set release date, but Jason Mamoa is to play Eric Draven.

Alien Nation

This movie is said not to actually be a remake but the director Jeff Nichols (Mud) original take on the movie. This movie is said to still focus on the same premise of the original movie.

The Invisible Man

Still no director is lined up for this movie, but Johnny Depp is to take the leading role.

Suspiria

Chloe Grace-Moretz, Tilda Switon, Dakota Johnson and Mia Goth all already cast. This movie is already in production and possibly releasing at the end of the year. This is director Luca Guadagnino’s passion project and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke is set to score this horror remake .

Dungeons and Dragons

This remake is said to be a Guardians of the Galaxy-tone movie in a fantasy Lord of the Rings type of universe. Roy Lee is set to produce this with “interesting ideas”, which hopefully set well on screen and make this film worth watching.

The Craft

The Craft is rumored to be a sequel and trying to recast cast from the original movie. The original producer is going to be working on this film, Douglas Wick. Its been 20 years since the first released and we all hope this will be as great as the first. I mean if you like those type of films.

Hellraiser (Hellraiser: Judgement)

Another sequel coming from the woodwork of Gary J Tunnicliffe (Pet). Heather Langenkamp already said she has been approached to make a small cameo. The new film will have a new pinhead cast, as well as no Clive Barker helping with the film at all.  The plot of this movie is: Detectives Sean and David are on the course to find a gruesome killer terrorizing the city.

Tomb Raider

Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander) must push herself beyond her limits to find her missing father on a deserted inland. Roar Uthaug of the wave is directing this sequel. The release date is set for March 16, 2018.

Death Note

Adam Wingard, the director of You’re Next got his hand on this movie and is now planning on making a Live Action of this fan favorite Anime Series. Starring Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, Shea Whigham and William Dafoe.  This release date is set for August 25, 2017.

Time Bandit

This 1981 classic is getting its own TV series!  Originally written and directed by Terry Gilliam, he is back at it again and with a series at that. It is unknown when the new series will be release or on what station yet.

Which upcoming sequel/remake are you looking forward to... or fearing? Let Nerdbot know in the comments!
