Spaceballs 2: The Search for Money
What started off as a joke may now become a reality.
At a recent screening of Young Frankenstein, legendary director Mel Brooks took to the stage for a brief Q&A where he fielded a question regarding the potential for a sequel to his iconic 1987 comedy Spaceballs.
"MGM is slightly interested in doing it because of the success of Rogue One and The Force Awakens and the new Star Wars explosion. So they think maybe, so we're talking, so who knows," said Brooks who was given warm reception to the idea.
The original Spaceballs, now a cult classic, is one of the most heralded spoof movies of all time. With the ever expansion of the Star Wars universe it only makes sense that a sequel would come to fruition. Recently, box office duds like Meet The Spartans and Dance Flick have dominated the spoof movie game and the timing is right for someone like Brooks to restore the genre and make parody great again.
Fingers and Schwartz crossed that Yogurt gets his wish, even if it's just an excuse to sell more Spaceballs The Flamethrowers.
