A few weeks ago we reported that Rosario Dawson was finally gong to try on the superhero shoes, after landing a role as Dr. Celia Reyes in upcoming Fox/Marvel movie New Mutants. Well, it looks like Rosario's rise to power has been halted as The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the role has now been taken over by Queen of The South regular, Alice Braga.
While this will be sad news for Dawson fans who were eager for the Night Nurse to up the ante on her superhero CV, Braga makes for a fitting replacement. She has already earned her stripes for sci-fi, appearing opposite Will Smith in I Am Legend, and Matt Damon in Elysium. She has also become a proven talent in more dramatic pieces, most notably the legendary City of God.
Dawson will be joining an ever expanding cast of youngsters that includes Maisie Williams, Anna Taylor-Joy, and Charlie Hunt, with Dr. Reyes being the Dr. Xavier for this new team. The film is being directed by Josh Boone, who also wrote the script in collaboration with Knate Lee, and is aiming for a release date of 13th April 2018.
