On July 11th, The Hollywood Reporter shined a light on acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino's upcoming project.
Their sources reveal the Academy Award winner (Best Original Screenplay for Pulp Fiction and Django: Unchained) is working on a script, that he will also direct, telling the story of the Manson Family Murders. Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who produced his other works are rumored to be involved with talks of funding and distribution already taking place. Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence have supposedly been in the discussion to star in the film.
For those of you who do not know, the Manson Family Murders were these brutal killings that took place in 1969. Since then, the crimes have become a significant piece of Hollywood folklore and American culture.
Charles Manson (you may know him as the guy with the beard who appears on a bunch of stuff at Hot Topic) was sort of a cult leader, with followers, a commune, everything. On August 8th, he gave the order to go to a house in Benedict Canyon and kill its occupants. As a result, Sharon Tate (Roman Polanski's wife) and four others had their lives taken from them. Manson was later sentenced to prison where he resides to this day.
With that as the "source material" one can only image what Tarantino will do with the story. So check back with us here at Nerdbot for all of your QT updates.
